Music Promenade (1964–1969), 20’29

Electroacoustic music
World premiere in Paris, Théâtre de la musique, March 16th 1970,
“Hétéro-Concert”
A permanent version for four independent tape recorders. A succession of realistic sounds and sound images that collide and overlap. The strollers are struck by the violence of what surrounds them.
Nature has made way for a whirlwind of armies and industries among which we can glimpse agonizing folklore and a lost young girl.
The «Installation» version allows adding sound to somewhere where the strollers are free to choose their musical path.

Presque rien n°1 ou Le lever du jour au bord de la mer (1967–1970), 21’11

Stereo magnetic tape
After the total disappearance of all abstract sound, we can consider this piece as a sound slide and the culmination of a whole evolution.
The most realistic restitution possible of a fishing village waking up.
A first hint of minimalism.

Stereo magnetic tape
World premiere, Autumn Festival, November 14th 1979
Description of a night landscape by the soundman’s microphones tries to capture, but the night surprises the “hunter” and gets into his head. It then has a double representation: the inner landscape changes the outdoor night and, in creating it, adds its own reality, or its imagination of reality, or, might we say, its psycho-analysis of its night landscape.

Presque rien avec filles (1989), 13’54

Stereo magnetic tape
A photographer or a composer is hidden in paradoxical landscapes; young girls are there in a kind of picnic and are, without their knowing, being spied upon.

Luc Ferrari (1929-2005)

“Luc Ferrari was born in 1929. He asks himself about this sentence; first 1929. He has written numerous autobiographies in which he would fake dates. Writing makes him crazy, don’t ask him to do that. And because he didn’t want to appear to be younger, he would age himself. That’s why there are a lot of false dates that exist, and he used to find it very funny. Now, he does not anymore!
Then, born in Paris. He asks himself: to be born in Paris! He asks himself who he would have been if he was born in his father’s little village in Corsica. He asks himself what he would have become if he was born in Marseille, his mother’s hometown. He asks himself who he would be if he was born in Italy, like his ancestors.
For this, he has no answer.”

On August 22, 2005, Luc Ferrari passed away in Arezzo, Tuscany.

Music Promenade (1964–1969), 20’29

about

Luc Ferrari Paris, France

1929 – 2005

Never ceasing to investigate, Luc Ferrari leaves behind a body of work by turns exalting, noble, funny, intimate, and nocturnal. Like a mirror turned toward the Other, it reflects the world and its fantasies.

He had a weakness for women with accents.
